Coach Ezzard Cooper started boxing in Evansville, IN at the CK Newsome Center when he was 13 years old. Coach Cooper had more than 15 amateur fights, winning both the Silver and Golden Gloves before going pro in 2003.

As a professional fighter, Coach Cooper had fights in New York City and Washington DC. He was the main event of the Night in West Virginia. Coach Cooper fought for the WBF Title twice, both ending in a draw; but winning Fight of the Night.

Coach Cooper opened his first gym in 2004 in downtown Evansville before developing the XFIT brand in 2013. The XFIT gym has moved locations several times to accommodate consistent growth in all training programs.

As of 2023, XFIT Gym has had 7 Golden Glove champions, 5 runners up, and Coach Cooper was the 2022 Coach of the Year. The XFIT boxing team frequently travels for fights, averaging at least 15 fights per year.
